    PC-TAS: New Edition on CD-ROM

© International Trade Centre, International Trade Forum - Issue 1/2004

ITC's PC-TAS (Trade Analysis System for Personal Computers), covering the years 1998 to 2002, is now available.

Developed as a market research tool, PC-TAS contains the import and export values (and quantities, when available) of trade for 200 countries and territories worldwide. Users have easy access to information such as the top importing and exporting countries for a product, their market shares and growth of imports or exports over the five-year period. The data on PC-TAS is derived from the COMTRADE trade database of the United Nations Statistics Division, which covers over 90% of world trade.

The CD-ROM is available in two product classification systems. The first covers 3,800 products using the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC revision 3) system, developed by the UN to classify traded products on the basis of their material and physical properties as well as the stage of processing and their economic functions.

The second product classification system is the Harmonized System (HS revision 1), covering 5,300 products. The HS classifies goods according to criteria derived from customs declarations.

PC-TAS is available to users in developing countries for US$ 450 and in developed countries for US$ 900 (+US$ 10 shipping and handling) per CD-ROM. The CD-ROM can be rush delivered for an additional US$ 30. To order, visit ITC's E-Shop (http://www.intracen.org/eshop) or contact pc-tas@intracen.org for more information.
