    J. Denis Bélisle, ITC Executive Director, and Richard Moras, President of IFPMM, signed the MoU, during a special ceremony held at IFPMM's World Congress, in Lucerne, Switzerland.

ITC and the International Federation of Purchasing and Materials Management (IFPMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2003 to help establish and improve national institutions representing and supporting the purchasing and supply profession throughout the developing world.

This new agreement will encourage and support partnership initiatives, ventures, and research and development between the signatories in the areas of purchasing and supply. Cooperation under the MoU may also include strengthening of purchasing and supply management associations (PSMAs), promotion and support of training and education programmes in the field, arrangement of joint promotional events such as meetings and exhibitions, and the production and exchange of technical materials.

IFPMM is an international non-profit organization grouping more than 40 PSMAs, which represent about 200,000 purchasing and supply professionals around the world. Like ITC, IFPMM believes that improved company competitiveness and increased standards of living can be achieved through better business practices applied to purchasing and supply.
