After working in the private sector in the United States, he was a
consultant for small businesses and international organizations such as
the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. He also worked as a
legal expert for the UN Development Programme.
In May 1999, he became Vice Minister in Cambodia’s Ministry of
Commerce. In this capacity, he worked extensively on issues related to
trade promotion, trade policies, trade and development, the commercial
legal framework and economic integration. He was also a key player in
Cambodia’s accession to the World Trade Organization. He has written
abundantly on trade and development, legal and investment issues and
has worked closely with the donor community.
Mr Sok is familiar with ITC as a result of his association with the
Integrated Framework in his own, and other, countries, with various ITC
projects carried out in Cambodia and with the Executive Forum.
Mr Sok is holder of a Master of Business Administration from the
Century University of New Mexico (United States), a Juris Doctor in Law
from the Widener University School of Law in Delaware (United States)
and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Law and Economics with the Bond
University School of Law in Queensland (Australia).
