European year of creativity and innovation 2009

International Trade Forum - Issue 3/2009

This year, 2009, was declared European Year of Creativity and Innovation. With its key
message of how creativity and innovation contribute to economic prosperity and to social and individual well-being, the campaign aimed to disseminate good practices, stimulate education and research, and promote policy debate on related issues. In November, the ambassadors for the year - leading European personalities from the fields of culture, science, business, education and design - presented the "Manifesto for Creativity and Innovation in Europe". The manifesto, one of the most important outcomes of the year, draws seven key priorities and lines of action that will help shape the European Union's vision for the role of creativity and innovation in the decade 2010-2020.
